Extreme Mauritius !

If Mauritius is doing so well as a tourist destination, it is certainly thanks to its beautiful beaches and turquoise lagoons but also because of the plethora of activities proposed. Whether you are looking for a quiet vacation, some sunbathing, and never leaving your beach towel, or whether you are the hyperactive type, who wants to do a multitude of activities to discover the country, Mauritius is the destination of choice for you. One sure thing is that you will definitely find activities that match your personality, the perfect activities for an unforgettable vacation. And even for tourists looking for action and experiencing new sensations, Mauritius is ideal as many extreme activities are organized to boost your adrenaline level…

Canyoning is a sport regularly practiced here. In the picturesque inland landscape of Mauritius, you can indulge in a mixture of hiking, swimming and abseiling. At Tamarin falls in the west of the island, you can enjoy eleven waterfalls, ponds and deep crevasses. This is probably one of the most beautiful canyons of the island and - best of all - suitable for beginners and experienced athletes. In Chamarel, in the south of the island, you can do rappelling over 90 meters which will take you right to the foot of the great waterfall of Chamarel. The view is just wonderful!
You can’t imagine not doing some biking during your vacation? Well, it is a good thing then that there are more and more « mountain bike » paths on the mountains of the island. This activity is becoming more widespread and offers very high speed thrills. Depending on your preferences, on a bike or a quad, the mountain roads such as Bras d'Eau biking trail in Roches Noires, will surely trigger sensations that will not be forgotten soon…
For those who prefer air to land, many experiences are available to you. A lot of hotels like the Hotel Ambre, Constance Belle Mare or Touessrok, offer their customers parasailing services, an original way to discover Mauritius between sky and sea. You can also fly over the mountains of Pieter Both, Le Pouce or Le Morne paragliding and do prepare yourself to be amazed. Some level of fitness is necessary to participate in this activity but initiations are offered for beginners.
The ultimate extreme sport for all « dare-devils » out there is most certainly skydiving. The free fall will give you a unique view of the whole island. Make sure to keep your eyes wide open when letting yourself fall from more than 10,000 feet in the clouds. These are 30 seconds of pure sensations at a speed of 200 km/h. The starting point is in the north of the island.
One sure thing is that there is no shortage of activities for adrenaline junkies under the Mauritian sun...
